What affects the price of accounting?
There is no fixed price that fits every business. Two companies with the same turnover can require vastly different amounts of work depending on how many transactions they have, whether they employ staff, and how records are submitted. That is why most accounting firms base their pricing on the company's actual transaction volumes.
The factors that typically have the greatest impact on cost are:
- Turnover – a larger business often has more business events and more items to reconcile.
- Number of employees and payrolls – each payslip must be calculated, reported and booked.
- Number of receipts and supplier invoices – each voucher must be verified and booked.
- Payment processing – if the firm also prepares supplier invoice payments.
- Year-end closing and annual report – completed once a year and usually priced separately.
- Advisory services and financial review – such as budgeting, forecasting, or performance analysis.

We believe you should know the cost of your accounting before contacting us. That is why our price calculator uses the exact same rates that we quote. All prices are per month and excl. VAT:
- Base fee: SEK 1,195 per month.
- Turnover: SEK 150 per million SEK in annual turnover.
- Payroll: SEK 250 per payslip per month.

Example 1: Small limited company with no employees
A consultancy firm has an annual turnover of SEK 1 million. The owner draws a salary, meaning one payroll run per month. Each month there are approximately 10 receipts and 5 supplier invoices, which the owner pays directly.
Base fee SEK 1,195 + turnover SEK 150 (1 × 150) + one salary SEK 250 + 10 receipts SEK 150 (10 × 15) + 5 supplier invoices SEK 125 (5 × 25) = SEK 1,870 per month excl. VAT.
Example 2: Growing business with higher transaction volumes
A trading partnership has an annual turnover of SEK 2 million and runs no payroll. It generates roughly 20 receipts and 10 supplier invoices per month, and the company handles invoice payments itself.
Base fee SEK 1,195 + turnover SEK 300 (2 × 150) + 20 receipts SEK 300 (20 × 15) + 10 supplier invoices SEK 250 (10 × 25) = SEK 2,045 per month excl. VAT.
Example 3: Company with employees and payment handling
A limited company has an annual turnover of SEK 5 million and three employees. Around 40 receipts and 25 supplier invoices are processed each month, and the company wants us to prepare the payments.
Base fee SEK 1,195 + turnover SEK 750 (5 × 150) + three payslips SEK 750 (3 × 250) + 40 receipts SEK 600 (40 × 15) + 25 supplier invoices with payment handling SEK 875 (25 × 35) = SEK 4,170 per month excl. VAT.

How much do year-end closing and annual reports cost?
The year-end closing is carried out once a year and is not included in the monthly price. With us, year-end closing and an annual report start from approx. SEK 4,500 per year excl. VAT. The final price depends on the complexity of the year-end closing, for example if there is inventory, accruals or multiple companies within a group.
A well-prepared year-end closing takes less time. Therefore, it pays to review all supporting documents well in advance of the financial year-end.

Fixed price or hourly billing?
Many accounting firms charge by the hour, while others offer a fixed monthly fee. A fixed price makes budgeting easier, as you know the exact cost of your accounting every month. Hourly billing may be suitable when the workload fluctuates significantly or for one-off assignments.
Regardless of the pricing model, it is important to understand what is included. Feel free to ask whether reconciliations, VAT returns, contact with the Swedish Tax Agency and advisory services are included in the price or billed separately.
How to keep costs down
Much of the cost depends on the amount of manual work required. A few simple habits make a big difference:
- Submit documents digitally and continuously rather than all at once.
- Photograph receipts straight away and note what the purchase was for.
- Keep supplier invoices in one place, preferably as e-invoices or PDFs.
- Keep personal and business expenses strictly separate.
- Respond promptly to queries from your accountant to avoid duplicated work.
Compare more than just the price
The cheapest option is not always the most cost-effective. An accounting firm that knows your business well can identify errors early, help you plan taxes and contributions, and provide better basis for decisions. Therefore, also look at accessibility, experience, and whether you get a dedicated point of contact.
